Candle Fire Safety
Candle Fire Safety Warning
Candles add ambiance and warmth to any space, but it's essential to use them safely to prevent accidents. Please review these important fire safety guidelines before using our candles:
- Remove candle from gift packaging: All of our candles are shipped gift wrapped in tissue paper and a box. Remove the candle from all gift wrappings (boxes, papers, etc.) prior to lighting.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended: Always extinguish candles before leaving the room or going to sleep.
- Keep candles out of reach of children and pets: Place candles on stable, heat-resistant surfaces where they cannot be knocked over.
- Trim candlewicks to 1/4 inch before each use: Long or crooked wicks can cause uneven burning, dripping, or flaring.
- Keep candles away from drafts, vents, and air currents: This helps prevent rapid or uneven burning, sooting, and excessive dripping.
- Burn candles in a well-ventilated room: Avoid burning candles in small, confined spaces or rooms with poor ventilation.
- Do not burn candles near flammable objects: Keep candles away from curtains, furniture, bedding, paper, and other flammable materials.
- Use candle holders designed for candle use: Ensure candle holders are sturdy and won't tip over easily. Avoid using containers that are flammable or can break.
- Do not touch or move a burning candle: Let the candle cool completely before touching or moving it.
- Do not extinguish candles with water: Water can cause hot wax to splatter and might break a glass container. Use a candle snuffer instead.
- Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight: Excessive heat can cause candles to soften or melt.
- Stop burning a candle when 1/2 inch of wax remains: Continuing to burn a candle when it is nearly empty can cause the container to overheat and crack.
